Affordable Group ClassesGroup Classes are a great way to learn for students of all ages and skill levels. Classes are offered in groups of up to ten students to allow for one-on-one attention as well as assembly learning.
Workout ClassesFor students who have been playing for a while but want to push their abilities farther and faster, we offer workout classes. Call or email for days and times. These classes are not for beginners, they are fast paced exercise classes for students looking to be challenged.
Colored Stick ProgramWe are excited to offer Erik Truelove's unique Colored Stick Program. Much like the martial arts, this curriculum is designed to allow the student to progress at their own pace but in a very structured and rewarding setting.
Drum Set RentalsStudents/parents can rent complete drum sets starting @ $39.00 per month (2 month minimum) Different sizes, styles and levels are available to find the perfect kit for your needs.
Private LessonsOur private lessons are great for students of all skill levels and interests. They provide individualized instruction with customizable options to fit every student.

Practice RoomsFor drummers who need a place to practice, we offer fully set up private rental rooms. We have 4-pc and 5-pc acoustic kits each with cymbals, double bass pedals and headphones included. They are available for you to rent by the hour.

The teachers at Drum & Drummer have been hand selected not just for their excellent skills on their respective instruments, but also for their demeanor, patience and professionalism. Each instructor also brings to the table his own specialty with regards to style and background. This really rounds out the very wide variety of expertise that make up our teaching staff!
Aaron Emery Watch Aaron in Action
Aaron Emery earned his Masters Degree in percussion from the University of Arizona. He has also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Percussion Performance from Northwestern University and a Performance Certificate from The Drummer's Collective in NYC. Hes is a fantastic drum set player and excells in the Jazz and R&B genres.
Aaron has been teaching private lessons for many years now and is proud of the musicians and good people his students have grown to become. Aaron plays or has played with many groups around Arizona including; Geneveive & the LP's, The Bad News Blues Band, Crystal Stark, The Jive Bombers, The Bryan Dean Trio & Many others.
Aaron is available for private lessons on Mondays between 1pm & 7pm.
Erik Truelove Watch Erik in Action
Erik Truelove has won the title of the "World's Most Accurate Drummer." four different times. A consummate drummer and instructor, Truelove has given an average of more than 1,000 lessons and 100 performances per year for several years. Erik is an very patient instructor and has developed some revolutionary curriculums for teaching the drum set that are a core part of Drum & Drummers approach to teaching the drum set.
Erik has toured nationally and internationally and is a sought after studio musician as well. In 2011, His band the TRYST recently took home 7 Tammies (Tucson Area Music Awards), including best new release 2011, Best singer, best bassist, Best Drummer, Best song wiriter. Get your copy here.
Drum & Drummer School of Percussion is the manifestation of many years of dreaming and planning by Erik and he is very excited to share it with Southern Arizona and beyond! Erik is available for private lessons most days of the week and also conducts many of the group classes that are offered at Drum & Drummer.
Tom Beech Watch Tom in Action
Tom is a music educator and freelance musician in the Tucson / Phoenix area. He graduated from Marana High School in 2010 at the age of 16 and immediately set out touring, playing, and recording with bands and musicians of various styles, including jazz, pop, fusion, latin, funk, metal, and rock. He began teaching in 2008 to family friends as a hobby and was quickly turned on to the fulfilling and exciting world of music education and have taught an average of 10 students a week for the past three years. Tom has enjoyed using his own experiences and the wealth of literature available to enrich his own life and the lives of his students. Tom is most excited to bring his teaching and performance experience into Drum and Drummer to help younger players of any age achieve their goals in music and in life.
Katina Assimacopoulos - Piano Instructor Watch Katina in Action
Katina Assimacopoulos grew up in South Dakota where she studied piano since the age of five. Since then she has studied piano for fifteen years. She spent much of her time involved in music programs, participating in many concerts and competitions and has received several state-wide and local awards. She began her undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Minnesota. There, she also continued developing her love of music through instruction under Harvard graduate Dr. Paul Shaw. After her first year Katina transferred to the University of Arizona where she continues her undergraduate degree.
Katina has been teaching piano lessons for two years and is excited to join the team at Drum and Drummer School of Percussion. She has constructed a piano program designed to give students a well-rounded music education. She loves teaching piano lessons and is excited to push her students to work hard, have fun and most importantly learn skills they will be proud of.
Mark Marlatt - Guitar, Bass, (almost any stringed instrument) Piano & Vocal Instructor
Mark William Marlatt earned his Associate's Degree in jazz studies from The Hartford Camerata Conservatory, and his Bachelor's Degree in music education from Hartt School of Music (University of Hartford).
Growing up on a farm in rural Ohio, Mark got his first guitar using S&H green stamps at the age of 10. Completely self-taught up to his college auditions, he started playing professionally at age 14. Mark spent the bulk of early and mid-professional career as a touring musician doing shows and clinics with such guitarists as: Blues Saraceno (Poison), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), Jennifer Baton (Michael Jackson), Doug Blair (W.A.S.P.), and many others.
Teaching in both public schools and private lessons for 30 years, Mark understands what it takes to learn and be proficient on any of the several instruments he teaches. Through his relaxed teaching style, and ability to get his knowledge across to his students in a language that they can easily understand and work with, Mark has the ability to motivate his students and keep them learning.
Today, Mark writes and composes music for the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Veteran's Administration, and performs all over Southwestern United States.
